The Inspiration
A symbol of celebration, holly brings a welcome touch of color to the winter landscape. Set against a snowy backdrop, this scarf depicts its verdant leaves and bright red berries, serving as a reminder that spring is on its way.
How It’s Made
Alessia creates all of her scarves using Ebru, the mystical, seemingly-impossible art of painting on water. She starts by dripping and drizzling her colors into the water, then conjures each element and detail by spreading the paint over the water’s surface. To finish, she delicately places the silk into the water, where it quickly absorbs its one-of-kind-design.
What It’s Made From
Crafted from untreated, lightweight Pongee silk, every scarf is smooth, lustrous and drapes beautifully. Alessia exclusively uses water-based paints, which are friendly to both the skin and the environment.

Alessia Bianco Dolino
Piedmont, Italy | Artist & Designer
Watching Alessia practice the centuries-old art form of Ebru, or painting on water, is a study in contrasts: her style and movements are methodical yet uninhibited, free-flowing yet meticulous. She is, however, consistently in control, and with each stroke, vibrant colors dance and swirl on the surface of the water.
But mastering these techniques was no simple feat. Self-taught, Alessia embarked on a two year process of discovery, full of trial and error. What she came to realize was that Ebru is every bit a science as an art.
Today, her silk scarves, inspired primarily by the idyllic landscapes that surround her studio near the French border, are the embodiment of one-of-a-kind artistry. Given the fluid nature of her canvas, it would be impossible for them not to be.

Part Artistry.
Part Chemistry.
What do temperature, displacement, and viscosity have to do with art? When it comes to Ebru, everything. In fact, understanding how different paints interact with water, and with each other, is just as important as artistic skill and flair. Alessia spent years mastering both, unlocking the power to create captivatingly beautiful designs in the process.
